Star-studded ‘Runway for Life’ celebrity fashion
show raises $330,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Love Hewitt, Gary Oldman, Ben Stiller, Amber Valletta and many more modeled

(Beverly Hills, California, May 11, 2002) Hollywood’s
top celebrities strutted their stuff on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital at the "Runway For Life" Celebrity Fashion Show on May 11 at the
Beverly Hilton International Ballroom.
Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas,
St. Jude is an internationally recognized biomedical research center dedicated
to finding cures for catastrophic diseases of childhood. The hospital’s
work is supported through funds raised by ALSAC, which covers all costs
not covered by insurance for medical treatment rendered at St. Jude. Families
without insurance are never asked to pay.
Models who donated their time and support included
Cindy Crawford, Natasha Henstridge, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Gary Oldman,
Ben Stiller, Amber Valletta, Tyson Beckford, Matt Cedeño, Lolita
Davidovich, Diane Farr, Joely Fisher, Daisy Fuentes, Deidre Hall, Carré
Otis, Cybil Shephard, Hal Sparks, Liam Waite, Victor Webster and Vanna
White.
This inaugural event expanded upon the highly
successful St. Jude Hollywood Gala, hosted annually for 22 years by the
Thomas family. In addition to the fashion show, which was set to a Moulin
Rouge theme, the event offered a silent auction featuring more than 250
items valued in excess of $100,000. High-end jewelry, fashion items, travel
packages and autographed sports and entertainment memorabilia were available
to the highest bidder. Terre Thomas, daughter of Danny Thomas, co-chaired
the event with Angelle Ghiz and Robert Ellis, both long standing supporters
of St. Jude.

Their mission – to find cures
for children with catastrophic illness through research and treatment –
is a constant driving force. It is through the pursuit of that mission,
that we seize every opportunity to help the children who come to us for
care and, in so doing, to create new knowledge that will help children
throughout the world.
